The vaccination process against COVID-19 continues regardless of immigration status

The United States government has provided equal access to the COVID-19 vaccination process to anyone regardless of their immigration status.

Since the beginning of Joe Biden's administration, the United States Department of Defense (DHS) has reported on equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, regardless of immigration status or any other condition.

“It is a public health and moral imperative to ensure that all people who reside in the United States have access to the vaccine. DHS encourages all people, regardless of immigration status, to receive the COVID-19 vaccine once they are eligible under local distribution guidelines, ”explained DHS in a statement published in February this year.

States such as California, New Jersey, New York, among others, have communicated on several occasions that to receive the COVID-19 vaccine it is not necessary to show the social security number, or verify immigration status.

"The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the United States Customs and Border Protection will not conduct law enforcement operations at or near vaccine distribution sites or clinics," he explained. the New Jersey government in a statement on its specialized site on vaccination and COVID-19.

The personal data obtained during the vaccination process cannot be used at any time for civil, criminal or immigration purposes; they are only authorized to be used for the benefit of public health. In other words, undocumented people can receive the COVID-19 vaccine without worrying about handing over their personal data.

Some states even have translation services if the person receiving the immunization does not speak English.
