University institutions in the United States, through their faculties and law schools, offer free or low-cost immigration advice and representation.
When seeking legal advice on immigration issues, non-profit organizations and associations are not the only option. Some law schools and law schools in the United States offer free immigration counseling at their immigration clinics.
For example, at New York University (NYU) they have a Immigrant Rights Clinic (IRC), which provides services locally and nationally, for people who require legal representation. In this project, NYU students have the opportunity to represent an individual or a group of individuals in litigation, project organizing, and legislative campaigns.
Also, the law school of Yale also has an IRC, for the representation of immigrants and their organizations before the court. In the same way, it has the support of students who are in training to be immigration lawyers. This IRC is located in New Haven, Connecticut.
In California, there is the Gould School of Law Immigration Clinic, belonging to the University of Southern California (USC). This clinic also provides legal assistance to immigrants mainly from Mexico, Central America, South America and Africa.
On the other hand, in Texas the University of Texas at Austin, also has an IRC, in which the students represent immigrants in a vulnerable situation and with limited resources. In addition, it carries out various projects that address issues such as cruelty and corruption, defense of women's rights, the program "Remain in Mexico"among ohters.
Remember that any organization or association that offers free or low-cost legal services must be certified by the United States Department of Justice.
