Legislators and representatives of the Congress of the Union met with Mexican migrants in California and to present a work agenda in favor of the migrant community.
Deputies and senators from Mexico met with migrants from the state of Jalisco, with Dreamers, with former braceros and with members of the Association of Jaliscienses in Action (AJUA). In addition, California state senators, assemblymen and mayors of cities in southern California also participated in this meeting. The objective of this meeting was to strengthen the collaboration between the people of Jalisco in California and the Congress of the Union.
On the other hand, the congressmen held a meeting with Dreamers through the Coalition of Mexican Migrants, in which Linda Sánchez, a member of the Hispanic Caucus in the House of Representatives, and a member of the committee participated "Ways and Means“, which provides social security programs, unemployment insurance and other support.
As reported by the Chamber of Deputies in its press release, the population of Jalisco in the state of California is over 2 million people, which is why they seek to promote legislation in favor of this population.
On the other hand, there was also a meeting with the Federation of Zacatecanos from southern California, who expressed their needs and who wanted to support families and communities in Mexico.
Finally, the work agenda included the creation of the first Cultural Festival "Mexico in the Heart", which previously only took place in the state of Jalisco, and now it will also take place in southern California, with the aim of expanding the sides of coordination with the Mexican community in said region.
