Since January 2014, the state of Nevada through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), allows undocumented immigrants to be eligible to obtain a Driver Authorization Card (DAC). Nevada residents who do not meet the proof of intensity or ID requirement to process their license, as is the case for the undocumented population, have access to a DAC, to drive motor vehicles on public streets and highways in Nevada.
The DAC does not function as identification or to access state or federal benefits or services. Additionally, DACs are valid for four years and expire on the user's birthday.
Here are some of the requirements to be able to start the process:
- In the case of undocumented residents of the state of Nevada, it is necessary to present two of the following documents: foreign passport, foreign birth certificate or consular identification card
- Documents in languages other than English must be submitted with a translated copy. Consult translators here.
- It is also necessary to present two proofs of residence, such as bank account or credit card statement, school documents, rental documents, evidence of car insurance, among others.

DACs and renewals cost $ 22.25, plus an additional fee of $ 25 only if exams are required.
