The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) signed an agreement with Telecomunicaciones de México (Telecomm), to promote the sending of remittances with better conditions and without commission for those who receive them in Mexico.
This initiative of Telecomm and the SRE through the Institute of Mexicans Abroad has the objective of promoting actions so that Mexican immigrants in the United States send money to their relatives in Mexico under better conditions and facilities.
In this way, they jointly announced the launch of Telecomm's Paisano Remittances card. Through this card, Mexicans who receive remittances from their relatives can dispose of the money on the same day of the deposit.
“It is a recognized card in many establishments so it can be used for supplies, for the purchases that each family needs. This was not possible before, now it is going to be possible, it is a great job that facilitates and protects our people”, explained the head of the SRE.
The Telecomm card is a secure means for Mexicans to receive their remittances from the United States, and also so that they can use it directly to make purchases in physical stores and online. In this way, progress towards a digital financial ecosystem is also promoted, as well as allowing users to withdraw cash from ATMs.
The IME, for its part, explained that this agreement will be promoted from the consular network of Mexico and the 45 financial advisory windows in the United States, as well as one in Canada and another in France.
Telecomm registers the highest collection of remittances in the states of Oaxaca, Jalisco, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, Guerrero and Querétaro. However, they have more than 1,700 branches throughout the country in 1,210 municipalities.
Similarly, Telecomm offers zero commissions for people who receive money in Mexico, and in minutes the money is available to be withdrawn. The maximum send amount is $7,499 and there is no minimum amount.
