ActionNYC, is a program of the Mayor of the City of New York, which offers free and safe immigration legal assistance to people who live in the city, regardless of their immigration status.
This program is part of the New York Mayor's Office for Immigrant Affairs (MOIA). ActionNYC offers free legal assistance to New York immigrants through a network of community organizations, public health centers, public schools, and libraries.
The services offered by the program are free legal evaluations to see if you qualify for any immigration benefits. Free legal assistance from an experienced attorney or accredited representative for different types of cases, including: Citizenship, Green Card Applications and Renewals, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status ( TPS) and Referrals to other resources and community support services, funded by the City.
In addition, the services offered by the program do not consider immigration status, that is, they are services for any type of immigrant. In addition, services are provided in the language of the migrants. Available languages include: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Mandarin, Nepalese, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, and American Sign Language. In addition, the program has telephone interpretation services in more than 200 languages.
The care offered is classified into three types: Extension, which provides information about ActionNYC and schedules appointments with eligible immigrants to interested parties; Counselors - based in community organizations, they screen potential users of ActionNYC services, and provide assistance with applications; Legal Services: Immigration attorneys review the legal work that counselors and clients do, represent them in cases, and provide information on next steps.
All ActionNYC services are free as it is a program funded by the city government and has more than 20 community organizations that support the project.
