Since May 10 of this year, the CBPOne mobile app offers immigrants a new way to schedule appointments with US immigration authorities.
CBPOne is a free mobile application created by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office to facilitate the process of entry of migrants and improve security at border crossings. This app was created with the initial purpose of improving the process of requesting inspection appointments for carriers and travelers, however, CBP added various functions, such as the appointment schedule for immigrants seeking to schedule an appointment and submit their asylum application .
Since May 10, 2023, after the end of Title 42, which allowed the removal of undocumented immigrants for public health reasons, CBPOne has modified its functions, now allowing additional time to complete the appointment request process, since previously it was necessary to access the app to request an appointment specifically at 10 AM CST. Now it is possible to carry out the process from 11 AM CST to 10 AM CST.
How does the new process work?
- Within the app, select the option "Request an appointment", and make ONLY ONE registration for all the people who travel with you, this will avoid duplicate errors.
- The app will assign appointments every day at 11 AM CST, to all the people who registered correctly the day before.
- Upon receiving an appointment you have 23 hours to accept and schedule it. For this, the app requires you to take a video selfie and thus confirm your appointment.
- Remember that the registration process must be carried out near border areas with nearby CBP locations, or from Mexico City or Guadalajara.
