The Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington D.C. invites the Mexican community to participate in this oral history project based on the migrant community of Mexican origin.
The Mexican Ministry of Culture and the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. created the oral community project “One story at a time” or “One tale at a time". Its objective is to create a repository of the collective memory of Mexican migrants in the area that is easily accessible to the general public.
It is focused on citizens of Mexican origin or descent, and proposes the construction of the community through interviews with members of migrant families and knowing their migration history in the United States.

“We are interested in going beyond traditional narratives to enrich our shared past by telling individual memories, experiences and stories that show alternative chronologies, which are deeply personal and fundamentally universal,” explained the Institute.
The Institute offers the free services of a professional historian and writer to help you learn to interview, narrate, and communicate a story in the best possible way. From September 13 to October 29, on Mondays and Wednesdays of each week they will offer this class via Zoom.
