Vice President Harris met with Latina businesswomen

On the occasion of National Hispanic Heritage Month, US Vice President Kamala Harris met with Latino entrepreneurs on September 29.

Kamala Harris' meeting with the businesswomen was to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and discuss the Bipartisan Infrastructure Agreement and the Rebuild Act and the benefits it will bring to their businesses.

 “It's a testament to the Vice President and her commitment to the Latino community, and bringing them to the table for Hispanic Heritage Month and listening to them is enormous,” explained House Nanette D. Barragán, who accompanied Harris during the meeting.

The five invited Latina entrepreneurs operate businesses from different sectors in the Washington DC region. Daniella Senior, born in the Dominican Republic, runs a café and bar in the city. Rosa Caldas, also of Dominican origin, is the founder of a technology company that offers services to the federal government. Paola Moya, Colombian, founded her own architecture studio. Myrna Peralta, is the executive president of a bilingual and multicultural educational center in Washington DC.

“One of the areas that I have focused on very closely is what we can do to increase access to capital for our small businesses, with a particular emphasis on minorities and women, in small businesses, than among our small businesses. companies have historically faced the greatest challenges in terms of access to capital, ”explained Harris during the meeting.

Harris also recognized the work of women entrepreneurs during the pandemic, and how their businesses have overcome obstacles and challenges to continue growing.
