Nevada State College announced that it is now part of the scholarship program for undocumented students, TheDream.US.
TheDream.US is the largest university scholarship program nationwide, aimed at Dreamers, undocumented immigrants, Deferred Action (DACA) or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients. It currently has two types of scholarships, National /Nacional and Opportunity /Oportunidad, which offer different benefits.
Nevada State College will now be part of the National Scholarship partner universities and colleges, delivered by TheDream.US each academic year. With this, it joins the University of Nevada, as the two Nevada study centers that benefit their undocumented students and Dreamers through these scholarships.
Mariana Sarmiento Hernández, program manager for undocumented students at Nevada State College, explained that “Nevada State College also has a variety of scholarships, including admission scholarships and merit-based scholarships, regardless of immigration status, which is the same for other universities throughout the state.
In the case of the National scholarship, the benefits are as follows: Full scholarship of up to $39,000 to complete a degree at Nevada Sate College; funds for books and other academic materials; and individual career support and resources throughout the college major.
Regarding the eligibility criteria, it is necessary to be an undocumented student or beneficiary of DACA/TPS; current high school graduate, community college or college student; have arrived in the US before November 1, 2017; Minimum GPA of 2.5.
