The United We Dream organization launched the campaign: Know Your Power !, which seeks to promote the defense of the rights of undocumented migrants in danger of detention or deportation by immigration agents.
The campaign Know your Power! or KYP!, created by United We Dream, is intended to disseminate useful information for undocumented migrants related to encounters with immigration agents and possible deportations or detentions.
How to be ready and how to act in case immigration agents look for you at your job?
Remember to keep calm and keep quiet. If you declare something, be sure not to lie. In case you have valid documentation or a copy of a pending immigration process, you must show it to the agents. Never sign documents, or allow them to register you and say verbally "I do not consent to be registered."
It is important that you have a plan with your co-workers or your boss in case immigration agents look for you at work.
Put together an emergency packet and put it in an envelope marked “Privilege & Confidential”, put it in a safe place and share where it is with a trusted person. Also have a plan for who will handle your case, and your important documents.
It is important that you do not carry your passport, it is a travel document and if you carry it with you, you can speed up your deportation process.
Finally, do not hand over any foreign documents, such as consular cards, driver's licenses, voter credentials. If the agents manage to get you to give them a foreign identification, they will realize that you were born outside the country and will proceed to arrest you.
