The Institute for Women in Migration (IMUMI) is a non-profit association that promotes the rights of women in migration within the Mexican context.
IMUMI created a guide to help migrant families with children born in the United States to obtain Mexican citizenship for transnational families, which facilitates custody processes, explains identity procedures for parents and children who return to Mexico. It is available at the following link: https://imumi.org/documentos/guia-familias-trasnacionales.pdf

In the IMUMI guide you will find what is necessary to prepare the Mexican nationality process for girls and boys of Mexican parents, born in the United States, dual nationality does not imply the loss of rights and obligations as American citizens.
The procedures are different depending on where the children and their parents are. If the children return to Mexico, they must obtain Mexican citizenship to access all health and education rights.
If the minor does not register as a Mexican citizen while living in the United States, upon entering Mexico she will only have permission to stay six months as a tourist.
“In order for your son or daughter to obtain Mexican nationality, it is necessary to process a certificate of registration of recognition of US nationality. With this type of act, your son or daughter will have Mexican citizenship without losing US citizenship”, explains the IMUMI guide.
