Use the online tools offered by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to check for updates on your immigration application, petition, or petition.
People with pending immigration proceedings can access the USCIS online case status platform. To know your status you must enter your receipt number, an identifier that USCIS provided you, which has 13 characters and is unique for each case. Three of the characters are letters, and can be any of the following combinations EAC, WAC, LIN, SRC, NBC, MSC, or IOE, followed by ten numeric characters. When entering your number omit the hyphens (-).
Also known as a receipt number, it is a unique 13-character identifier that USCIS assigns to each application and petition, which is also key to identifying and tracking each case. The first three characters of this number are letters that signify the type of application, petition, or request.
You can consult the USCIS tool at the following link: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/ landing.do. When entering your number, skip the use of hyphens “-“. You can include asterisks “*”, in case they are part of your receipt number.
After entering your data, the platform will show the next steps to follow in your process or only its status.
To follow up on your case, another option offered by USCIS is to open an account: https://my.uscis.gov/authenticate/saml/sign_up. Para ello necesitas registrar un correo electrónico y tus datos, así como establecer una contraseña segura.
Having an account on this USCIS platform will allow you to receive updates automatically in your email or on your cell phone. As well as reviewing the history of the case, consult updated information on changes in processes with USCIS, for example, related to specific cases such as work permits, DACA, permanent residence, among others.
Also, when you have an account, you can choose the option to receive updates in English or Spanish.
