Isabella Guzmán Casillas is the current Administrator of the Federal Small Business Agency (SBA). She was appointed by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the United States Senate on March 16, 2021.
The SBA is a federal agency in charge of promoting the goals and objectives of small businesses in the United States. It is one of the main resources for small businesses, since it has the support of the Federal Government. Among its actions are the promotion of small companies that have just started, or economic support for businesses that seek to expand. Its services are provided through a wide network of local offices that work hand in hand with public and private organizations.
For her part, prior to her work as an SBA administrator, Guzmán Casillas was Deputy Chief of Staff to the SBA Administrator during the Obama-Biden administration. Subsequently, in 2019 Guzmán Casillas began functions as the director of the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), where she supervised the state small business development centers, export promotion programs and access programs to capital.
Currently as SBA Administrator, Guzmán Casillas is responsible for running an agency that supports small businesses and entrepreneurs in the United States through loan programs, investment capital, and business development services. It is worth mentioning that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the SBA implemented various financial support initiatives for small businesses, for example, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
Guzmán Casillas' experience is characterized by his defense of small businesses, especially those run by minorities or women.
Recently, Casillas Guzmán participated in the launch event of the Latino Prosperity Tour, in Tucson, AZ. This tour that seeks to highlight the actions carried out in favor of Latino businesses and bring information and resources available to Latino entrepreneurs.
