The Government of Zacatecas implemented the 2 × 1 Working United with Migrants Program that promoted actions in favor of the Zacatecans and the United States.
According to the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), the state of Zacatecas received 1,202.3 million pesos in remittances from the United States, ranking 13th nationwide. The migrant population in the United States that originates in Zacatecas, is of utmost importance for the economy and development of the state.
The state government created the 2 × 1 Program Working United with Migrants, which seeks that migrants contribute to the development of the entity. Through the program, policies of care and support for the migrant community were promoted, which resulted in about 850 works and actions for their benefit.
"Thanks to the 2 × 1 Working United with Migrants Program, hundreds of students and, in general, the education sector, in most of the Zacatecan territory, were beneficiaries of scholarships, domes, perimeter fences and computer equipment," explained the government in a statement.
Within the actions of the state government, collaboration with migrant clubs based in the United States was promoted, and the Zacatecas government participated in 10 Binational DIFFERENT Fairs in Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, California, Colorado and Illinois. In these fairs they registered more than 15 thousand attentions to Mexican migrants.
Regarding procedures, the state government facilitated the processing of 3,000 driver's licenses, more than 4,000 birth certificates and 1,857 dual nationality procedures. As well as hundreds of consultancies on immigration issues.
On the other hand, the Zacatecas government continued the Support Program for Deported and Returned Zacatecans, providing financial support to repatriated migrants.
