What is NALEO and what does it do for Latinos?

The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, is a non-partisan organization that facilitates and encourages the participation of Latinos in political processes in the United States.

NALEO was founded in 1976 with the mission of mobilizing the Latino community to participate in civic life and promoting policies that seek Latino political engagement. Later in 1981, the NALEO Educational Fund was created. NALEO Educational Fund.

The NALEO Educational Fund leads the issues of political participation of the Latino population in the United States, as well as promoting issues such as immigration, naturalization, electoral reform and the right to vote.

NALEO seeks to promote the appointment of qualified Latinos and Latinas to executive and judicial positions in the United States. On the other hand, this organization provides support to Latinos in the process of obtaining citizenship, requesting DACA, how to vote, among other topics. This organization seeks to provide assistance and support to Latinos, especially young people, and seeks that official of Latino origin who are working in public office are aware of the problems of this sector of the population.

NALEO currently has offices in Los Angeles, Houston, New York, Orlando and Washington D.C.
