Mar\u00eda Reyna Gonz\u00e1lez was born in 1990 in a town in Oaxaca called Santa Mar\u00eda Tlahuitoltepec, which is located in the Sierra Norte of that state, also called Sierra Mixe. From an early age, Ella Reyna ventured into singing by participating in her community choirs and it was at the age of eight when she discovered that she had a gift in her voice.<\/p>

Proud of her roots and mother tongue, the Mixe Soprano has recognized the difficulties in her artistic path as an indigenous woman. One of her first challenges was to break the custom of marrying a man from the community and starting a family. Reyna wanted to continue her academic preparation and complete her high school studies, and that is how she moved to the city of Guadalajara and began working as a domestic worker.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

It was in Guadalajara, at the age of 19 and with little knowledge of Spanish, where he began vocalization and music theory classes with the composer Joaqu\u00edn Garz\u00f3n. In 2012, she managed to publicize her work after uploading a video to the internet in which she performed a song for her mother. Later, in 2014, as part of the delivery of the Nezahualc\u00f3yotl Prize for Literature, she was invited to sing at the Chapultepec Castle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

By 2016, his voice managed to cross borders by appearing at the International Book Fair in Santiago de Chile. Finally, the following year she managed to record her first album and was offered a series of presentations in New York City.<\/p>

After the start of the health emergency in 2020, Reyna had to suspend the concerts where she would promote her new record material. However, in 2022, she managed to make various presentations of her album 'Orgullosa soy root', in which she combines genres and rhythms such as jazz and bolero. Throughout her career, Reyna has also performed compositions in Mixe, Mayan, Mixtec and Nahuatl, as well as Zapotec and Spanish.<\/p>

Likewise, in 2021 he created a project called \"Canto a la root\", in which he made capsules of the 68 original languages spoken in Mexico with information and music representative of each one.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
