In January 2018, the Dignity No Detention Act (Senate Bill 29) came into effect in California, which prevents municipalities in the Golden State from entering into contracts with private companies for the purpose of detaining immigrants or modifying existing contracts to expand the immigration detention.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

This law was introduced by State Senators Ricardo Lara, Nancy Skinner, and Assembly members Lorena Gonz\u00e1lez and Mike Gipson.<\/p>

\u201cConsistent with its obligation to safeguard the humane and fair treatment of all persons located in California, it is the intent of the Legislature that this bill declares that the state does not tolerate profiting from the incarceration of Californians detained by immigration and the desire of the state to ensure fair and humane treatment of our most vulnerable populations \u201d, dictates Section 1 of the Law.<\/p>

En enero de 2018, entr\u00f3 en vigor en California la Ley de Dignidad No Detenci\u00f3n (Senate Bill 29), que impide que los municipios del Estado Dorado celebren contratos con empresas privadas con el prop\u00f3sito de detener a inmigrantes o modificar los contratos existentes para ampliar la detenci\u00f3n de inmigrantes. Esta ley fue aprobada en octubre de 2017 y entr\u00f3 en vigor el 1 de enero de 2018, revisa el crecimiento de las prisiones privadas para inmigrantes, y aumenta la trasparencia sobre la emisi\u00f3n de permisos a corporaciones a operar prisiones para inmigrantes. Esta ley fue introducida por los Senadores Estatales Ricardo Lara, Nancy Skinner, y los miembros de la Asamblea Lorena Gonz\u00e1lez y Mike Gipson.
