This Monday, New York State Senator Julia Salazar and the active member of the New York Assembly, Karines Reyes, presented a bill that seeks for New York to end present and future contracts with the Immigration and Control Service Customs (ICE) to incarcerate immigrants facing deportation, as have other states in response to protecting the rights of migrants, such as California in 2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\"The time has come for New York to join the chorus of states that have opposed the inhumane and dangerous practice of immigration detention,\" the groups said in the joint statement.<\/p>

\"ICE's harmful practices of separating families and targeting immigrant communities have always been unacceptable and should be abolished immediately,\" Salazar said. She stated that the bill is a \"necessary\" step to bring \"real justice\" to families who have been victims of the \"abusive tactics\" used by ICE.<\/p>

Este lunes la senadora estatal del estado de Nueva York Julia Salazar y la miembra activa de la asamblea de Nueva York, Karines Reyes, presentaron un proyecto de ley que busca que Nueva York ponga fin a presentes y futuros contratos con el Servicio de Inmigraci\u00f3n y Control de Aduanas (ICE) para encarcelar inmigrantes que enfrentan la deportaci\u00f3n, as\u00ed como lo han hecho otros estados en respuesta a la protecci\u00f3n de los derechos de los migrantes, como california en el a\u00f1o 2019. \u201cHa llegado el momento de que Nueva York se una al coro de estados que se han opuesto a la pr\u00e1ctica inhumana y peligrosa de la detenci\u00f3n de inmigrantes\u201d, se\u00f1alaron los grupos en el comunicado conjunto. \u201cLas pr\u00e1cticas nocivas de ICE de separar familias y dirigirse a las comunidades de inmigrantes siempre han sido inaceptables y deben abolirse de inmediato\u201d, indic\u00f3 Salazar. Afirm\u00f3 que la propuesta de ley es un paso \u201cnecesario\u201d para llevar \u201cjusticia real\u201d a familias que han sido v\u00edctimas de las \u201ct\u00e1cticas abusivas\u201d utilizadas por ICE.
