The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) announced that Deferred Action (DACA) beneficiaries will be able to file Form I-821D online to renew their permit.
USCIS announced on April 12 that people who have DACA will be able to file Form I-821D online to renew their benefits. In this way they will be able to receive alerts about the status of their case, consult messages, update personal information, among other functions.
“Expanding online filing is a priority for USCIS as we make our operations more efficient and effective for the agency and our applicants,” said USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou. In addition, she added that the option to file online for DACA recipients is part of USCIS's strategy to minimize reliance on paper records and transition to electronic means.
The presentation of this form online is only available for people who needed to renew DACA, not for new applications. Likewise, DACA recipients must also submit Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, which is also available online.
Filing these or other forms online requires users to create an account on the USCIS platform. This registration is free of charge. Once you have created an account, you can make an online form submission here. Learn more about the form in question at the following link: https://www.uscis.gov/es/i-821d
Following the addition of Form I-821D, it is now possible to file 13 USCIS forms using their online portal. Check the complete list of forms in the following link: https://www.uscis.gov/es/presentacion-de-solicitudes-en-linea/formularios-disponibles-para-la-presentacion-en-linea
On the other hand, USCIS reported that, during fiscal year 2021, about 1 million 210 thousand petitions and applications were filed online. This number represents an increase of 2.3% over fiscal year 2020, so USCIS will continue the same path towards electronic and digital environments.
