The Consular Center for Electronic Applications or Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC), is a specialized site of the Department of State, for the application or renewal of migrant and non-immigrant visas.
Through the CEAC website it is possible to make online applications to apply for immigrant and non-immigrant visas. Also, the platform allows you to pay some fees associated with immigrant visa applications.
The applications for non-immigrant visas that can be made at the CEAC are: DS-160, nonimmigrant visa online application and DS-1648, for domestic visa online application A/G/NATO. In the same way, within the same platform, it is possible to check the status of the application.
The platform only requires you to select the place where you will apply for the visa. And later, it shows the forms and documents that you must fill out for the application.
On the other hand, for immigrant visas, the procedures available are: DS-260, immigrant visas and alien registration, this format is used by entire families migrating to the United States; and DS-261, which is an additional form to the previous format. In addition, the fees for these applications are paid through the CEAC.
The Department of State explains that the application is only one more step to obtain a visa, so starting an application does not ensure obtaining the visa.
