The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and the General Directorate of Consular Protection and Strategic Planning (DGPCPE), conducted a virtual training to strengthen the Legal Assistance Program for Mexicans through External Legal Advice in the US (PALE) .
PALE is a critical tool for legal assistance to Mexicans in the United States. Since its creation in 2000 until the middle of this year, it has handled more than 91,000 cases and has signed more than 3,000 contracts with legal specialists. This mechanism facilitates legal assistance and the accompaniment and approach of lawyers, law firms, non-governmental organizations, specialists in migration and US law, among others.
In addition, PALE has served the legal needs of Mexicans in the United States in administrative, human rights, criminal, civil, labor and immigration areas. In general, it is a program that meets the needs of access to legal services of the Mexican community in the United States.
In this sense, the training of the SRE and the DGPCPE, provided information related to technical elements, good consulting practices and the comprehensiveness of Consular Protection actions and programs.
During the virtual education day, more than 200 people from the Protection Departments, the Mexican Foreign Service and Independent Professional Service Providers were trained.
Likewise, the training was carried out prior to the Week of External Legal Advice (SALE), an event that was held in the 50 Mexican consulates in the United States from October 24 to 28, which was also the first edition.
Thanks to this program, Mexican men and women who have been victims of aggression have received advice, they have also freed Mexicans who were unduly prosecuted and successfully defended people who were facing trials for the protest of their minor children.
